On May 6th, 2019, at 5:26 a.m., the royal family welcomed a new member into its ranks, according to the family’s official Twitter account. And… it’s a boy! They specifically stated, “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.” The royal press release went on to say that both Meghan Markle and her son are healthy, and that the family is thankful for everyone’s support during this momentous time.
The best part? They said more details would be shared in the forthcoming days.
Now, what other details could we possibly need, you ask? Well, first of all, we need a name! During a press conference following the announcement, Prince Harry revealed that they were still considering names — yes, even though they had “time to think about it.”
Harry also stated that he and his wife would be introducing their newborn to the world in “two days’ time.” He continued, “This little thing is absolutely to die for. I’m just over the moon.”
This makes us even more excited.
Thankfully, we now have a name — officially.
According to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the new royal baby’s name is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. And during her first appearance since giving birth, Meghan said, “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.” Prince Harry added, “It’s great. Parenting is amazing.” We are so happy for them both.
This name means “true and bold” in Scottish, according to SheKnows. CNN also reports that Harrison is meant to mean that he is the “son of Harry.” LOL.
It has truly been a time filled with exciting announcements and plenty of royals-themed headlines.

Did you know that it’s traditional for the royal family to put up an actual notice — golden easel and all — after a baby is born? We love how this is taking us back in time.

Does this give you any baby shower ideas?
Just look at how formal the whole thing is:

As for Meghan Markle’s mom, she “is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild.” We imagine she is!
The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.

Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.
Frogmore Cottage is where Harry and Meghan currently live. It’s located in Windsor.
Of course, Doria isn’t the only one who is over-the-moon about this baby news:
The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.

I mean, we’re over here beaming and we’re not even related to Harry or Meghan!
Interestingly enough, this is all happening a year after the couple wed at Windsor Castle. Their wedding date is May 19th, 2018.
Now, the royal family has even more to celebrate during the month of May.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is now joining the Queen’s seven other great-grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Mia and Lena Tindall, and Savannah and Isla Phillips.

Not only is the royal family excited about this addition, but the whole world is as well.
Michelle Obama sent Harry and Meghan her well-wishes:
Congratulations, Meghan and Harry! Barack and I are so thrilled for both of you and can't wait to meet him. #RoyalBaby https://t.co/mfE7uc6ooV

And Meghan’s Suits costar, Patrick Adams, also had some lovely words to send her way:
Ellen DeGeneres, of course, had something comedic to add to the baby news:
The #royalbaby is here! Congratulations, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The baby is 7th in line for the throne, which is crazy, because right now I’m 7th in line for the key-making kiosk at my grocery store. @RoyalFamily

Same, Ellen. Same.
The Office’s Rainn Wilson also had a perfectly-timed Game of Thrones-inspired tweet in his arsenal:
Ah, how we love it when a royal baby is born.
