This Toronto Wine Bar Cares About Your Feelings

The only thing Jamieson Kerr wants you to do at Mad Crush is to relax. Kerr is the owner of the newly opened Toronto wine bar, Mad Crush. At Mad Crush, wine is more than an accessory to food. Kerr matches food and wine with customer’s emotions, a unique approach to wine pairing. Researchers believe this is a better approach to wine lovers. He hopes to bring back a sense of connection with the consumer and their glass of wine.

Typically, the server provides a list of recommendations depending on your food order. We’ve all heard that red wine goes with red meat speech, but that’s not how it works at Mad Crush. “The one thing I can’t stand in a restaurant’s wine service is when a server rattles off the pairings of flavors…it’s about finding out what kind of mood and being able to read those people,” says owner Jamieson Kerr.

The bar has a wine list of over 115 exclusive and affordable wines. Kerr states, “We’re not using wine for the sake of having a particular varietal on the list, they have to pass a test: they have to be fantastic and there has to be a story.”

Check out this video and get a glimpse of the restaurant’s elegant yet casual ambiance. As Kerr says, “This is the perfect place to eat, drink and unwine.”
