Taco Bell fans have spent plenty of time asking for discontinued favorites to return, and five of those requests have finally been answered. The chain has quietly rolled out a limited-time “Fan Favorites Menu” featuring the Quesarito, Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller, Chili Cheese Burrito, Chili Cheese Fries and Grande Nachos. The catch is a big one: this is a hyper-local test rather than a nationwide comeback.
The returning lineup covers several different eras of Taco Bell. The Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller, discontinued in 2019, combines chicken with creamy chipotle sauce and sour cream inside a grilled flour tortilla. The Chili Cheese Burrito packs chili and Cheddar cheese into a tortilla, while Chili Cheese Fries pile chili, nacho cheese sauce and shredded Cheddar over the chain’s Nacho Fries.
Grande Nachos are the relative newcomer of the group, having appeared in 2025. They come loaded with seasoned beef, refried beans, nacho cheese sauce, a three-cheese blend, pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. According to Allrecipes, they also feature twice the beef found on Nachos BellGrande.
The Quesarito May Be the Biggest Comeback
For longtime customers, the Quesarito could easily be the headline attraction. Taco Bell previously described the burrito-quesadilla hybrid as one of its most requested menu items, and its latest return gives fans another limited opportunity to order something that has repeatedly disappeared from regular menus.
The Quesarito combines seasoned beef, rice, chipotle sauce and sour cream before wrapping those ingredients inside a cheesy outer layer with melted cheese and nacho cheese sauce. Taco Bell brought it back during the holidays last year, but that appearance was also temporary.
Its return is already generating excitement alongside some sticker shock. In a Taco Bell Reddit discussion, one user called it a favorite former menu item but balked at a screenshot showing a price approaching $6. Another pointed out that the Quesarito originally launched for $1.99 in 2014, while others simply said they were excited to finally try one. The discussion shows how nostalgia can bring customers back while modern fast-food pricing can quickly complicate the reunion.
There’s One Frustrating Catch to the Return
Before heading to the nearest Taco Bell, customers should check the app. The Fan Favorites Menu is only being tested in select markets, with availability appearing strongest in parts of the Midwest. A social media post from food account Snackolator pointed specifically to Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin as promising areas while noting that individual restaurants may carry all five items, only some of them or none at all.
That uneven rollout has already caused confusion. Reddit users reported finding none of the returning items in areas including Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston and Southern California, while one commenter in northwest Ohio said the items appeared on their local delivery menu. The reports reinforce just how localized the test appears to be.
Customers can check their local Taco Bell through the chain’s app or contact a nearby restaurant before making the trip. That matters particularly for fans chasing one specific discontinued item: seeing news that the Quesarito is “back” does not necessarily mean it is back at the Taco Bell down the street.
Why Taco Bell Keeps Digging Into Its Past
The Fan Favorites Menu fits a strategy Taco Bell has used repeatedly: rotate new products onto the menu, remove others and occasionally revive discontinued foods that have retained unusually loyal followings. Previous returns have arrived through fan votes, limited promotions and the chain’s nostalgia-focused Decades Menu.
There are signs the five-item test could help Taco Bell measure which discontinued foods still have enough demand for a broader comeback. Allrecipes noted that the current test could potentially pave the way for returning favorites to reach more restaurants, although there is no guarantee that any of the five will become permanent fixtures.
Fans are already looking beyond this lineup. In the Reddit discussion, commenters called for other discontinued products, including Volcano Menu items, while one simply wrote, “Wake me up when they bring back the volcano burrito.” For now, though, Taco Bell has put five old favorites back within reach — and the biggest challenge may be finding a restaurant lucky enough to have them.
