Imagine scrolling through your feed and stumbling across a job posting that promises six figures, remote work, light travel, and one main responsibility: tasting burgers.

It sounds like internet bait. But this time, it is very real. Wendy’s has launched a nationwide contest centered around a new title, “Chief Tasting Officer.”

The company is leaning into humor and social media energy, describing the role in playful terms while inviting fans to step into the spotlight.

What the Role Actually Involves

So what does a Chief Tasting Officer actually do?

The position is structured as an independent contractor role, tied to a formal agreement with Wendy’s. The winner will be responsible for creating promotional content, including taste-testing videos and branded social media posts featuring Wendy’s menu items. In other words, this is not just about eating. It is about performing, reacting, and representing the brand online.

According to the official materials, the role involves bringing “vibes, taste and creativity” to Wendy’s marketing efforts. That could include filming trending content, participating in vlog-style updates, and potentially appearing in ads. The focus is clearly on personality and camera presence as much as palate.

How to Apply

If you’re a Wendy’s fan and wondering how to throw your hat in the ring, the process is built around video.

Applicants must submit a video up to 60 seconds long explaining why they should be Wendy’s Chief Tasting Officer. Entries can be posted publicly on Instagram or TikTok using #WendysCTOContest and tagging @Wendys, or uploaded directly through the contest website. The contest runs through March 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

A panel will select 10 finalists based on five categories: creativity, brand love, brand safety, personality, and potential. Each category carries equal weight, which signals that Wendy’s wants someone who can align with the brand as much as entertain.

There is also a strategic bonus. Entries that feature Wendy’s products, logos, stores, or branding receive additional points.

The $100K Prize

Now for the number that likely caught your attention.

The grand prize includes a contract worth $100,000, awarded to one winner who will serve as Wendy’s Chief Tasting Officer. The position is remote, with light travel expected, and officially structured as an independent contractor agreement. This is not symbolic compensation. It is a real six-figure payout tied to deliverables.

The contest is open to legal U.S. residents 18 and older, including residents of Washington, D.C., though Wendy’s employees and their immediate family members are excluded. From all eligible submissions, 10 finalists will move on to interviews before one winner is selected.

For one lucky fan, that could mean a new title, a public platform, and a $100,000 paycheck. A triple-win situation!
