A Woman Was Banned From Walmart For Doing Something Insane In Their Bakery Section

We love scoring a deal on our grocery shopping as much as anyone else, but one Walmart shopper took the thrifty approach a little too far. The Times Record News recently reported a story of attempted bargain hunting that even the most diehard savings-seeker would probably not approve of.

It all kicked off at 8 p.m. on June 25th, when officers from the Wichita Falls Police Department were reportedly called to a Texas Walmart Supercenter in the city of Wichita Falls, TX, to intervene in an unusual kind of theft. According to their account, a woman had entered the store, picked out a cake from the bakery section, and proceeded to eat half of it. While this is pretty brazen in and of itself, things escalated when she got to the cashier and refused to pay full price for the cake, since half was now missing! The manager called the police, who disagreed with her logic and banned her from the store.

Of course she became an instant local legend.

Strangely, this isn’t the first time this year that the WFPD has had to get involved with some out-of-the-ordinary behavior in a Wichita Falls Walmart. In January, officers were called to a different store, where employees reported that a woman had been riding around the parking lot in an electric cart since 6:30 a.m., drinking wine from a Pringles can.

When police tracked her down at a nearby restaurant, she was banned from the store.

If you’re thinking that eating cake while you shop and going on a wine-fueled joyride sound like pretty fun crimes (you know who you are), you’re not alone.

They might even be inspiring others to take up a life of not-quite crime. (For legal reasons, we don’t recommend this.)

People raised a Pringles can in wine lady’s honor:

Apparently so many people have contemplated doing this that a bit of name-clearing was required.

Between these two incidents, Wichita Falls is becoming famous for its weird, whimsical crimes.

Drawing comparisons to another place famous for its bizarre criminal-ish behavior:

Maybe even in a good way…

Could Texas be the new Florida?

Others think it’s less about the state and more about the store.

Some Wichita Falls residents see this as an act of public service.

Seems like this could actually be a selling point for the city.

Or maybe its only selling point.

Others want more. Coming soon: Cops — Wichita Falls:

The real lesson is, if you can’t resist a pre-checkout snack or parking lot Pringles wine, just keep in mind that it could be your first and last opportunity before you get banned.
