Hydrating On The Go: 40 of the Most Popular Travel Mugs You’ll Want to Use Everyday

By now, we all know just how important it is to stay hydrated. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re doing a great job of it. Making sure to get the appropriate amount of liquid nourishment every day can be tough when you’re running around town, picking up the kids, making it to every meeting on time, and just generally being alive. But you know what helps you stay alive longer and better? You guessed it—hydration. To help you stay on top of things when you’re on the go, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite travel mugs and water bottles. Do they make it easier to stay hydrated? Maybe. But they definitely make it cuter.

1. Yeti Rambler

Probably my favorite travel mug of all time, the Yeti Rambler does it all. Seriously. It’s super insulated, works for hot or cold beverages, has a handle that helps for those of us with smaller hands, won’t get condensation everywhere, has enough capacity to last you a while so you don’t have to constantly refill, has a tapered base that fits into most car cupholders and is miraculously dishwasher safe. As if that didn’t already convince you, it also comes in a gazillion different colors so you can find just the right one for you.

2. Contigo Vacuum-Insulated Travel Mug

One of the most popular travel mugs of all time, and one of the first ones I ever owned when I started commuting with coffee in hand, this Contigo vacuum-insulated mug is a true workhorse. It keeps hot drinks hot for hours. So hot you might burn your tongue, in fact. It’s slim and small enough for for easy sipping on-the-go or tossing into your backpack. And yes, you can do that because it’s got a leak- and spill-proof seal on that lid. Basically, it’s for those of you who might be a bit careless about where you’re tossing your bevvies.

3. Zulay 12 oz Insulated Coffee Mug

If you’re more of a basic-model babe, this Zulay insulated mug is a great choice. It holds the temp just right for both hot and cold drinks, is a nice petite size (perfect for one cup of coffee plus a bit of your favorite creamer), goes from your desk to your campsite with ease, and has a nice snug lid with a sliding sipper so it won’t splash around when you’re on the run. It’s also dishwasher safe, which gets bonus points in my book.

4. STANLEY Classic Trigger-Action Travel Mug

Another tough operator from heritage brand Stanley, this trigger action travel mug is literally built to go wherever you do, with a slim body to fit into your cupholders. It’s available in both 16 oz and 20 oz sizes, and has a push-button lid to keep it from spilling when you’re tossing it around your work sites or hitting a rough trail. This super durable mug can supposedly keep your iced drinks iced for up to 40 hours too, folks, so you can keep cool on any hot day.

5. Ember Stainless Steel Temperature Control Travel Mug

Now, I haven’t personally tried these Ember temperature-controlled mugs, but come on y’all, they’re sexy as hell, are they not? If you’re into the idea of a smart mug that keeps your drinks at your ideal temp for hours, then this is the gem for you. They make desktop versions as well, but the travel mug comes with a lid and fits cupholders so you can take it on the go. You can set it with buttons on the mug’s display or via an app on your phone.

6. Collapsible Silicone Water Bottle

One of the major downsides of all these reusable mugs and water bottles is the space they take up in both your cabinets and your gym bags. But a collapsible option can truly save the day. This lightweight silicone version withstands all the rough and tumble of constant use and has a secure screw top to stop leaks when it’s thrown in your bag. It squishes down to just a few inches so when you’re done with it, it easily fits just about anywhere, and you can use the convenient handle to hang it from your hiking pack with a carabiner.

7. Coldest Sports Water Bottle

Customers say that the Coldest Water Bottle will keep your ice icy for days. And I believe ’em. This super durable water bottle is crafted with advanced insulation technology and a fully insulated straw to keep your coldest drinks cold for super active lifestyles. Its wide mouth means it fits normal ice cubes and is easy to clean. Plus, it comes in a whopping eight size options and more colors than you could ever need.

8. Travel Water Bottle with Storage

If I’m going for a long walk, I’m always frustrated that I have to stash my keys or wallet into some strange pocket or carry them in my hand. But this water bottle solves that problem with a secret stash space in its base, perfect for carrying just about any little thing you can imagine. Cash, credit cards, keys, you name it. Sure, it’s also a fully functional hydration option, but its limited capacity means it’s really about the added features with this one.

9. STANLEY IceFlow Stainless Steel Tumbler

The Stanley IceFlow is another winning pick in my book. It’s a bit clunky to get used to with the extra large handle on top and the attached sipper straw, but it’s great for being super durable and leak-proof. I’ve carried one around in a backpack with no problems at all. It’s great for water, smoothies, iced coffees, you name it. And it comes in a bunch of different sizes and colors (all perfect for your sticker collection).

10. Epic Water Filters Nalgene

What’s better than the original Nalgene water bottle we all know and love? One that comes with an advanced biological water filter inside! Epic Water Filters has designed this one to instantly purify any water of contaminants while you drink, including bacteria, viruses, lead, chlorine, pesticides, VOC, PFOA, PFOS, and plenty of other complicated, hard-to-pronounce things that you certainly don’t need in your sips. The soft, squeezable plastic bottle is also a bonus, so you can easily sip through the straw instead of having to unscrew a lid and pour.

11. Brita Insulated Filtered Water Bottle

Speaking of filters—Brita, the brand we’re all familiar with for our at-home filtered water, has made their own travel water bottle so you can get the same stellar treatment on the road. It comes in two large capacity sizes, is cupholder friendly, and has a simple sipping straw with a lid and a convenient carrying handle as well. If you’re always finding yourself reaching for single-use plastic-bottled water, this is a fantastic option to cut back on waste, just remember you’ve got to change the filter every few months!

12. Soft Flask Pocket Water Bottle

If you’re a power runner looking for a hydration option that doesn’t weigh you down, the Fitly soft water flask is perfect. It’s a compact and collapsible water bottle made to shrink as you drink, so it won’t take up space or weight, and easily squishes in your hand so it’s not hard to hold. You can put it in nearly any pocket, and it also comes in a variety of size options including larger bladder versions with drinking tubes.

13. Stainless Steel Coffee Mug Set

If you want a travel-safe mug that feels like a mug you’d use at home, this set of two stainless steel mugs is great. They’re super simple and durably designed, including being dishwasher safe and work for both hot and cold beverages. They don’t come with lids, but are great for camping trips or beach days when you don’t want to worry about something getting too beat up in the elements.

14. H2O Capsule Half Gallon Water Bottle

Built for gym life, this extra large capacity water bottle with storage sleeve is a winner for you super active types. It’s a 74 oz water bottle with a covered straw under its lid that pops open with a simple click. 16. W&P Porter Ceramic Mug

So many travel mugs are made of metal, but that can leave a metallic taste in your mouth. If you’re particular about that, or just want a sleek, fashion-forward travel mug, I adore this W&P version. It’s made of classic ceramic like your mugs at home, but also has an easy-grip silicone sleeve that protects your hands from hot temps. It comes with a secure sipping lid and is both microwave and dishwasher safe which means easy use and cleaning for life.

17. Navaris Stainless Steel Water Bottle

Don’t need your water to stay particularly cold? Want something big, simple, and durable? This single-walled stainless steel water bottle is my pick. It’s a hearty 75 oz water bottle with a flip-top lid. That’s it. That’s the story. It gets the job done so you can too—staying hydrated every step of the way.

18. BODUM Travel Press

Ok—this one is a personal recommendation. I used to actually use this for a long time. I loved making French press coffee at home, but was always wasting it when I had to make an entire pot and then run out the door. I found this Bodum travel mug and my dreams basically came true. It’s a single-serve French press right inside the travel mug. Simply add your grounds, add your water, press and go! Yes it works. Yes it stays hot for hours. It’s a bit of a pain to clean, but if you’re particular about your coffee, a superb option.

19. Stanley Classic Travel Mug

Another French press option for on-the-go is this heritage version from Stanley. It’s a thermos-style classic travel mug that comes with a removable metal plunger so you can brew and go. It’s got innovative technology that both sanitizes the water inside and the inner surfaces of the bottle by neutralizing bacteria, all with the touch of a button on the lid. It’ll also run an auto-clean every two hours in case you forget. Oh, and yes, it keeps your water fresh and cold and clean. Customers say a single charge can last up to a month, which makes this tech totally hassle-free.

22. Navaris Crystal Water Bottle

If you want your water to sparkle as much as the newly-hydrated you, get yourself one of these crystal-filled glass water bottles, the base of which is filled with beautiful gemstone crystals. They’re not actually in the water, but in a screw-on base, and the bottle comes with a nice sleeve to protect the glass as well. It comes in several different crystal variations, just for fun.

23. A7 memobottle

Kind of like a flask, but for water, this memobottle from A7 is a real beauty. It will keep your style on point while keeping you hydrated. Designed to fit in your bag, or even your pocket, this slim little number is made from BPA-free plastic with a sleek stainless steel lid, and provides 6 oz of hydration on the go. They make some other sizes as well, each designed with style and sleekness in mind, but this one is the perfect pocket companion.

24. Hidrate Spark PRO Smart Water Bottle

If just having your water near you or on you isn’t enough to get you hydrated, maybe this smart water bottle will do the trick. It has an LED-powered smart sensor in the base that glows to remind you when it’s time to drink and it tracks your water intake via Bluetooth on the free iOS & Android app. You can even choose from custom glow colors and exciting light patterns to personalize it to your own taste. The app will help you determine just how much water you should be drinking, and keep you on top of it too!

If you like the simpler things, switch it up with Hydro Flask’s soft-touch stainless steel reusable mug. It comes in 6, 12, or 24 oz sizes, each with a press-in lid to tame splashes. The lid slides open to reveal a hole that’s spacious enough for a straw as well. It’s made of stainless steel, double-wall insulated, and has a nice hand feel for keeping cozy while you keep it hydrated.

And Keurig solved it by making its own air-tight stainless steel version. It’s a 12 oz travel mug with a plastic inner wall and convenient lid that’s perfectly sized to fit under every Keurig brewer with the drip tray removed. You no longer have to MacGyver a way into your morning brew.

Great for both people and the planet—because there’s no plastic involved—this reusable double-walled borosilicate glass travel cup is both handy and beautiful. Available in many sizes and colors, it has an ergonomically-designed shape to allow for less head tilt, but also fits JOCO Roll Straws if you like their practicality. And it has a silicone thermal sleeve to keep your hands cool while your drinks stay hot.

29. KeepCup Brew Reusable Glass Coffee Cup

Another option, and my personal favorite, for a glass on-the-go cup is this one with a cool cork band from KeepCup. If you want to stay hydrated in style with a simple water glass that looks great in even the most professional settings, this tumbler is my pick for you.
