By now, we all know just how important it is to stay hydrated. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re doing a great job of it. Making sure to get the appropriate amount of liquid nourishment every day can be tough when you’re running around town, picking up the kids, making it to every meeting on time, and just generally being alive. But you know what helps you stay alive longer and better? You guessed it—hydration. To help you stay on top of things when you’re on the go, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite travel mugs and water bottles. Do they make it easier to stay hydrated? Maybe. But they definitely make it cuter.
1. Yeti Rambler
Probably my favorite travel mug of all time, the Yeti Rambler does it all. Seriously. It’s super insulated, works for hot or cold beverages, has a handle that helps for those of us with smaller hands, won’t get condensation everywhere, has enough capacity to last you a while so you don’t have to constantly refill, has a tapered base that fits into most car cupholders and is miraculously dishwasher safe. As if that didn’t already convince you, it also comes in a gazillion different colors so you can find just the right one for you.
2. Contigo Vacuum-Insulated Travel Mug
One of the most popular travel mugs of all time, and one of the first ones I ever owned when I started commuting with coffee in hand, this Contigo vacuum-insulated mug is a true workhorse. It keeps hot drinks hot for hours. So hot you might burn your tongue, in fact. It’s slim and small enough for for easy sipping on-the-go or tossing into your backpack. And yes, you can do that because it’s got a leak- and spill-proof seal on that lid. Basically, it’s for those of you who might be a bit careless about where you’re tossing your bevvies.
3. Zulay 12 oz Insulated Coffee Mug
If you’re more of a basic-model babe, this Zulay insulated mug is a great choice. It holds the temp just right for both hot and cold drinks, is a nice petite size (perfect for one cup of coffee plus a bit of your favorite creamer), goes from your desk to your campsite with ease, and has a nice snug lid with a sliding sipper so it won’t splash around when you’re on the run. It’s also dishwasher safe, which gets bonus points in my book.
4. STANLEY Classic Trigger-Action Travel Mug
Another tough operator from heritage brand Stanley, this trigger action travel mug is literally built to go wherever you do, with a slim body to fit into your cupholders. It’s available in both 16 oz and 20 oz sizes, and has a push-button lid to keep it from spilling when you’re tossing it around your work sites or hitting a rough trail. This super durable mug can supposedly keep your iced drinks iced for up to 40 hours too, folks, so you can keep cool on any hot day.
5. Ember Stainless Steel Temperature Control Travel Mug
Now, I haven’t personally tried these Ember temperature-controlled mugs, but come on y’all, they’re sexy as hell, are they not? If you’re into the idea of a smart mug that keeps your drinks at your ideal temp for hours, then this is the gem for you. They make desktop versions as well, but the travel mug comes with a lid and fits cupholders so you can take it on the go. You can set it with buttons on the mug’s display or via an app on your phone.
6. Collapsible Silicone Water Bottle
One of the major downsides of all these reusable mugs and water bottles is the space they take up in both your cabinets and your gym bags. But a collapsible option can truly save the day. This lightweight silicone version withstands all the rough and tumble of constant use and has a secure screw top to stop leaks when it’s thrown in your bag. It squishes down to just a few inches so when you’re done with it, it easily fits just about anywhere, and you can use the convenient handle to hang it from your hiking pack with a carabiner.
7. Coldest Sports Water Bottle
Customers say that the Coldest Water Bottle will keep your ice icy for days. And I believe ’em. This super durable water bottle is crafted with advanced insulation technology and a fully insulated straw to keep your coldest drinks cold for super active lifestyles. If I’m going for a long walk, I’m always frustrated that I have to stash my keys or wallet into some strange pocket or carry them in my hand. Sure, it’s also a fully functional hydration option, but its limited capacity means it’s really about the added features with this one.

The Stanley IceFlow is another winning pick in my book. It’s a bit clunky to get used to with the extra large handle on top and the attached sipper straw, but it’s great for being super durable and leak-proof. I’ve carried one around in a backpack with no problems at all. It’s great for water, smoothies, iced coffees, you name it. And it comes in a bunch of different sizes and colors (all perfect for your sticker collection).

What’s better than the original Nalgene water bottle we all know and love? One that comes with an advanced biological water filter inside! If you’re a power runner looking for a hydration option that doesn’t weigh you down, the Fitly soft water flask is perfect. You can put it in nearly any pocket, and it also comes in a variety of size options including larger bladder versions with drinking tubes.

If you want a travel-safe mug that feels like a mug you’d use at home, this set of two stainless steel mugs is great. They’re super simple and durably designed, including being dishwasher safe and work for both hot and cold beverages. They don’t come with lids, but are great for camping trips or beach days when you don’t want to worry about something getting too beat up in the elements.

Don’t need your water to stay particularly cold? Want something big, simple, and durable? This single-walled stainless steel water bottle is my pick. 18. BODUM Travel Press
Ok—this one is a personal recommendation. I used to actually use this for a long time. I loved making French press coffee at home, but was always wasting it when I had to make an entire pot and then run out the door. I found this Bodum travel mug and my dreams basically came true. It’s a single-serve French press right inside the travel mug. Simply add your grounds, add your water, press and go! Yes it works. Yes it stays hot for hours. It’s a bit of a pain to clean, but if you’re particular about your coffee, a superb option.

Yes. but if you drink one of these every day, you’re doing awesome.
