Celebrities might be used to public criticism, but rapper Cardi B isn’t taking the latest comments about her body lying down. In response to backlash about her decision to cancel shows and focus on her health after undergoing liposuction and breast augmentation, she set the record straight on social media, ET Online reported.
“[People tell me], ‘You lazy, you should just workout.’ I do whatever the #$%* I want to do with my body,” Cardi B said in the Instagram Live video. “I don’t have the time of day like you do. Like, my job as an entertainer is a 24-hour job, bro. So no, I don’t have time to work out and I wanted specific things that I know that no matter how much I work out, is not get fixed.”
“Like my boobs, no matter how much I work out, they were not gonna lift themselves,” she continued. “So yeah, I had to get fucking surgery.”
Let’s remember: Cardi B doesn’t owe us any explanation for the choices she makes about her own body.
The 26-year-old performer had previously told fans at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, about her ongoing recovery.
“I shouldn’t really be performing. I should’ve canceled today because moving too much is gonna fuck up my lipo,” she said, according to ET Online. “But bitch, I’m still gonna get this mother fucking money back, let’s go!”
Cardi decided to have plastic surgery following the birth of her daughter, Kulture, in July 2018.
In recent weeks, the rapper has also opened up about experiencing “mom guilt” due to her busy travel schedule.
“I do experience that mom guilt, you know? She’s here, but it makes me sad sometimes because it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, all that traveling,'” she told ET Online. “I know her sleeping schedule is getting a little messed up… every single time that she gets on an airplane, it’s all good until the landing. She starts crying, and I just be feeling so sad because I know the pain, you know, when your ears pop.”
Cardi’s clapback to her critics comes the same week as the release of her new single, “Press.”
Ironically (or not), the track is all about how she’s treated and criticized in the media.
Unsurprisingly, “Press” dropped to rave reviews on social media.

The chorus for “Press” features the following *fire* lyrics:
“Press, press, press, press, press
Cardi don’t need more press
Kill ’em all, put them h*&$ to rest
Walk in, bulletproof vest
Please tell me who she gon’ check
Murder scene, Cardi made a mess
Pop up, guess who, b@#$%?
Pop up, guess who, b@#$%?”
This song has really got people going.
#Press — that’s the song’s name, don’t wear it out!

“Press” follows Cardi B’s feature in DJ Khaled’s “Wish Wish.”
[fm_youtube url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq8z-U3bPgo"]Despite her recent concert cancellations, Cardi’s scheduled to resume touring Sunday, June 2nd, at the HOT 97 Summer Jam in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
We can’t wait to see what the “Press” rapper does next — and we love her even more for standing up for herself.
Keep doing you, Cardi. We’re here for it.
