All The Celebs Who Have Unfollowed James Charles After His Horrible Scandal

There’s absolutely no way you have escaped picking up bits and pieces of the James Charles scandal, which blew up at the end of last week. After makeup guru Tati Westbrook uploaded a career-ending YouTube video pertaining to the trials and tribulations of her friendship with makeup artist James Charles, the feud has basically become the hottest topic on every social media platform.

Charles has reportedly lost over 2.5 million YouTube subscribers since Westbrook’s video hit YouTube on Friday, May 10th. And he’s dropped countless followers on Twitter and Instagram, including several celebrities whom he once called friends.

In her tell-all video, Westbrook addresses the trigger that made her officially call it quits with Charles. Charles had recently signed a contract to do an ad for SugarBearHair sleep vitamins after telling Westbrook, his mentor and friend of three years, that he could not promote her vitamin brand, Halo, because it was be inappropriate considering the average preteen age of his audience. When Westbrook saw the ad, having heard nothing from Charles about his decision to promote SugarBearHair, Westbrook took to social media to vent her frustration.

She later uploaded a 43-minute-long video entitled “Bye Sister,” which has now garnered just under 40 million views since Friday. Westbrook goes into detail about their friendship and why she has decided to publicly denounce the YouTube celeb.

So, who else has officially #cancelled James Charles in light of Westbrook’s video? For starters, the Kardashian-Jenner sisters have officially clicked “unfollow.”

Both Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian had collaborated with Charles on videos posted to his channel. And both sisters have unfollowed Charles on every social media platform.

Demi Lovato has unfollowed, thus putting rumors of a potential collaboration to rest.

YouTube celebrities Ethan and Grayson Dolan, as well as Emma Chamberlain, who were all close friends with Charles, have each unfollowed him.

The foursome were all members of the “Sister Squad,” and frequently filmed collaborations for each of their YouTube channels.

Some fans claimed that Charles would often make Grayson Dolan feel uncomfortable with his sexual comments, thus playing into the theory that Charles is oftentimes inappropriate toward straight men. However, Dolan reportedly cleared up said rumor in an October 2018 video.

Ariana Grande officially unfollowed Charles (for the second time).

Grande and Charles had beef years ago after Charles called her the rudest celebrity he’s ever met. She reportedly unfollowed Charles after her fans requested she do it. Grande recently followed Charles again, seemingly ending the feud. However, in light of this recent scandal, she took her follow back once more.

Fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson unfollowed Charles on all social media accounts after hanging out with Westbrook last week.

Dawson, with his groundbreaking new investigative YouTube series, was at the center of some tea-spilling after he hung out with Westbrook just days before she unleashed her fury on Charles. Westbrook denied Dawson had anything to do with her coming clean about her frustration. But with a feud this large, Dawson must be taking notes for a potential new video series.

Shawn Mendes also unfollowed Charles after having to beat back rumors of Charles being inappropriate with him as well.

Charles tweeted out an October 2018 DM conversation between he and Mendes to clarify that there was no hard feelings between them.

Iggy Azaela cancelled Charles after shooting a collab with him in March.

This just goes to show that you can be good acquaintances with someone one moment and then their enemy the next.

YouTube makeup guru Jeffree Starr has not been subtle about who he is siding with in this fight.

He even went so far as to label Charles as a “pedophile” in a deleted tweet, which Westbrook had to reprimand him for. And Starr seemingly lives for drama — whether it’s his own or someone else’s. So we can’t be too surprised that he dove into this scandal head-first.

Miley Cyrus is seemingly done with Charles post-Met Gala.

Katy Perry also dropped Charles from her social media platforms. She was the first to announce Charles as Covergirl’s first “Coverboy” in 2016.

Perry, along with Westbrook, helped propel Charles into stardom outside of the YouTube beauty community.

Other YouTube celebs who have cut social media ties with Charles include David Dobrik, Ricky Dillon, Andrea Russet, Antonio Garza, Laura Lee, and, of course, Tati Westbrook.

Knowing what we know about Charles now, we won’t be surprised if more celebs also hit that unfollow button. We highly recommend watching both Westbrook and Charles’ videos on the situation to get better acquainted with the scandal before forming your own opinion.
