People Are Mad At Taco Bell Because They’re Getting Rid Of Their Nacho Fries

My first experience with Taco Bell came pretty late. When fast food was introduced to me as a kid, Burger King was pretty much one of the only options, and sometimes, McDonald’s even made it into the rotation. But fun chains like Taco Bell, KFC, Long John Silver’s, and Popeyes? My parents rarely ventured in. So I did what every college kid does when I left home — I made sure to “live mas” on a weekly basis. The chain even offered several meat-free options during my vegetarian years, making it my #1 choice. To pay my respects, I made sure to try every new item Taco Bell launched. Most were wins. But the best of the best? Nacho Fries.

Taco Bell released Nacho Fries in January of 2018, and they got people talking. They were like nothing you’d find in a burger chain. Instead, they stayed true to the brand and tasted like the perfect spud to complement your Taco Supreme. Even better? They didn’t break the bank. You could try them out for just a buck.

The fries eventually went on hiatus, only to return in July of 2018. And once again, their arrival made the news. Taco Bell celebrated with a fake movie trailer, and the time they put into it made it seem like the fries would be a permanent menu item.

But, alas. They’re leaving us once again. Delish reports that the fries were supposed to be around until mid-September, but a tweet from Taco Bell has made people wonder if that’s actually true.

This is your last call for #NachoFries. Don't worry, they'll be back next year. pic.twitter.com/U3NUQXPj4j

At the very least, they let fans know that they’d be making a comeback. But “next year” isn’t enough information. Will they come back in January? Or make a summer debut? Or even worse — what if they’re available in December of 2019? That’d just be cruel.

As expected, the announcement didn’t sit well with people.

For the love of all your veggie customers keep them! They are so much better then the potato cubes!

Hopefully, Taco Bell is listening. The nacho fries are incredible, and fast food fans just want them on the menu for good. Maybe in 2019, our dreams will come true.
