Um… whoops. Blame it on the “South Georgia” accent or a poor cell phone connection, but nothing could make this faux pas okay. When a Georgia mother called her local Dairy Queen to place an order for a Moana-themed ice cream cake, she received something completely different. Some say “Moana,” some say “marijuana.” You can tell where this is going.
Rather than decorating 25-year-old daughter Kensli’s cake with images from the hit Disney flick, the cake decorator went with a greener theme. The sheet cake featured a giant marijuana leaf and a My Little Pony character with bloodshot eyes and a joint hanging out of its mouth.
We’re stoned — stunned! We mean stunned!
“I haven’t had a chance to tell y’all about our experience this weekend with my birthday cake,” Kensli Davis wrote on Facebook on July 2nd. “So my mama called and ordered me a cake telling them how much I loved Moana. (Because really I do) Well needless to say these people thought she said marijuana.”
Davis’s Facebook post went viral and as of today, July 11th, it has been shared over 13,000 times.
“I was very impressed by the artistic capabilities of them being able to do the design they did,” Davis told local station WMAZ. Luckily, Davis thought the mixup was hilarious rather than heinous.
[fm_youtube url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVqR4lsWkgg"]The cake decorator did apologize, Davis told WMAZ, and even offered to make her another cake. But Davis took the cake as is and wrote on Facebook, “That ice cream cake was still good though.”
Upgrade actually

Twitter is having a heyday with the Moana/marijuana presto-change-o. Honestly, we can’t either.
Where was that my little pony when I was growing up?? 🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/JRZa1IPBvz

The My Little Pony character is what’s really getting us. Like… why?

Dude. Nice.
High Little Pony.

It’s still a bit hard to believe that the cake decorator couldn’t distinguish Moana from marijuana. There’s a good extra syllable in the latter — or “word,” if you’re this Twitter user (who perhaps was high at the time of writing).
pretty sure moana is one word

But it happened. Perhaps the decorator just had weed on the brain.
I was gonna make a Moana cake, but then I got high

Maybe they always have weed on the brain… Hm…
Truth be told, the cake could have been a lot worse. And at least Davis is an adult woman and not a 5-year-old kid.
Of course, some people on Twitter are asking how and why Davis got herself into this mess in the first place. A 25-year-old who wants a Moana cake?
But hey — who are we to judge? You do you, Kensli.
Don't judge

I've been staring at the edge of the water....
Maybe next year Davis will ask for a marijuana cake in order to get the opposite. It could be worth a shot.
In a funny twist, I ordered a marijuana cake for my birthday and the baker sent this... pic.twitter.com/QWyAtEovto

It’s stories like these that remind us that it’s always best to check and double-check birthday cake orders. Remember the Mariah Carey cake incident?
Thankfully, Davis has a good sense of humor. Phew.
If you’ve been thinking about ordering a Moana-themed cake for someone you love, you may want to spell out your request in writing.
