The Soda You Were Obsessed With As A Tween Is Back To Make You Hyper AF

A woman sipping on a drink

There are plenty of foods and drinks from the ’90s that are worth reminiscing about: Dunk-a-roos, Squeez-it drinks, Shark Bites gummies, 3D Doritos, Rice Krispies Treats… the list could go on and on. So whenever a childhood favorite makes a comeback, even if it’s only for a short period of time, it’s worth celebrating. This nostalgic news is especially exciting: the soda you were obsessed with as a tween is back, and we’ve never been more ready.

In case you couldn’t already guess what it is, we’re talking about Surge soda. It’s that green, fizzy, citrus-y drink that no other soda has ever been able to imitate (Mountain Dew comes close, but it doesn’t have the same kick), and it’s coming back for your enjoyment. This is, potentially, some of the best soda news ever.

The only thing? It’s solely going to be available in one place: Burger King. (You can also buy it on Amazon, but it is quite pricey.) The fast food chain scored an exclusive partnership with Surge, which will be served in any store that has a Coke Freestyle machine. Don’t believe us? The proof can be found in a photo posted on Reddit:

Surge was discontinued back in 2003 (and none of us truly appreciated it until it was gone).

In recent years, many people have been mourning the loss of Surge, hoping for a comeback during a time when so many other ’90s sodas were getting one (like Crystal Pepsi). It’s come and gone a few times — in 2014, Amazon started selling a 12-pack of Surge for Prime members only, and then Coca-Cola released some of the cans at convenience stores along the east coast. And now, we can get it at Burger King!

Surge will be available nationwide, at any Burger King location with a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine — you know, those digital, touchscreen machines that make you feel like you’re living in the future. If you aren’t sure where to find one, you can check out the location finder on the website. This is the only place to score Surge in fountain soda form, which, as everyone knows, is the best form of soda.

If this sounds a little familiar, it’s because it’s not the first time Burger King has worked with Surge. In 2015, they sold a limited-edition Frozen Surge, which was like a Surge slushy. Hopefully this fountain soda Surge sticks around a lot longer!

If your love of soda runs deep (and in moderation, of course), then our soda bottle cake is here to make your dreams come true.

It looks cool and tastes delicious.
