When it comes to contests and competitions, one thing is true — if they involve food, they’re immediately fantastic.
I’m talking about all food. Jellybean counting competitions, hot dog eating contests, and the chip contests that let you choose the wackiest flavor out of three fan-created wacky flavors. When food is at the center of it, it’s automatically fun. And the same goes for candy. Remember back in the day, when fans were able to vote for the brand new M&M color? Blue was the lucky contest winner that replaced the old tan M&M’s, which are still dearly missed.
This brand new competition was nowhere near as noteworthy, it’s still important. Just this year, M&Ms unleashed three very bold new flavors — Mexican Jalapeño Peanut, Thai Coconut Peanut, and English Toffee Nut. Out of the three contenders, one would be named a champion.
And, well, that happened. Can you guess which flavor won?
If you guessed English Toffee Nut, you’d be correct. Now, it’s a fine flavor but seems like the safest and most obvious among the three. It’s like if I asked you to choose between milk chocolate, a box of old raisins, and a fireball.
Allison Miazga-Bedrick, who’s the brand director of M&M’s, even called the winner an “overwhelming fan-favorite” in a press release, according to PopSugar.
That should come as a surprise to nobody. Did the other two even get a fair shot?
Now, keep in mind, when the Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&M was announced, a ton of people were wary. It seemed like a pretty crazy flavor for the brand at the time.
But, how will a brand expand without trying new daring things every once in a while? The flavor did end up earning a ton of fans.
M&Ms had a similar nut contest not that long ago. Customers were asked to choose between Chili Nut, Coffee Nut, and Honey Nut back in 2016.
Coffee Nut won. So, what did that mean?
It meant that customers would still be able to get their coffee fix in M&M form. You can still find Coffee Nut in stores and online — at least, for now.
That means that if you have yet to try English Toffee Nut, you’re in luck. If you missed out on the other two, you might want to check stores now to see if they’re still available — and stock up, if need be.

That’s the problem with limited flavors. Each one will create some sort of fanbase, no matter how small.
Mexican Jalapeño Peanut and Thai Coconut Peanut did have fans. But, perhaps those fans weren’t vocal enough.
Here’s everything you need to know about the contest winner. Because, hey — at the end of the day, we have a new M&M flavor, which is a reason to celebrate.
English Toffee Peanut has been especially popular with fans of the original Peanut M&M. It’s a milk chocolate M&M which also includes toffee peanut pieces.
People have said it’s addictive. But to be fair, it’s hard to find an M&M that isn’t. When was the last time you were satisfied by eating one single M&M?
There are also new ones with English toffee and peanuts and I don’t know why they’re so much better than regular peanut but they ARE

As the winner, it’ll officially join the M&M’s lineup this month. PopSugar reports that it’ll be around for at least 18 months.
The english toffee peanut m&ms are dangerously good.

No matter what, congratulations are in order. Way to slay the competition, English Toffee Peanut!
It’d be interesting to see if M&M’s released another contest around that time to take the place of English Toffee Peanut. Any idea what flavors should compete next?
