Unforgettable Times When Celebrities Dressed Like Food And Drinks

celebs and food

If there are two things we love, it’s celebrities and food. We love to know what celebrities are eating, where they’re eating, and about the fascinating diets they go on when preparing for different roles. Aside from that, though, we also love it when celebrities dress like food. Whether it’s for Halloween or accidentally on the red carpet, we can’t help but get excited when a celeb evokes one of our favorite treats. It’s like having the best of both worlds, but with a fashionable twist.

Whether Taylor Swift looks like strawberry-banana yogurt or Katy Perry is dressed as one of our favorite snack foods, these are all iconic moments that get bookmarked in our brains. I mean, who could forget when those two dressed up as a Happy Meal to hit home the fact that they are once again friends? Though it’s silly and fun, dressing like food can mean a lot more than what meets the eye. It can be used to make a certain statement (like #2 below).

1. Kendall And Kylie Jenner

Drink: Cans Of Fanta

At the 2019 Met Gala, Kendall and Kylie Jenner arrived looking like cans of Fanta soda. Both wearing Versace, Kylie looked like a grape-flavored can in purple, whereas Kendall rocked an orange number that evoked the flavor of the same name. Separately, they don’t really remind us of soda. It’s when they’re together that we can’t help but feel like we are taking a trip down the soda aisle at the grocery store.

2. Lady Gaga

Food: Meat

There is perhaps nothing more iconic than the meat dress Lady Gaga wore to the 2010 MTV VMAs. To explain the origin story of the dress, according to Billboard, Lady Gaga told Ellen DeGeneres, “It’s certainly no disrespect to anyone that’s vegan or vegetarian. As you know, I’m the most judgment-free human being on the Earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening it’s [saying], ‘If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.’ ”

3. Emma Stone

Food: A Waffle

At the 2019 Oscars, Emma Stone wore a copper Louis Vuitton gown that was designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere. It was covered in sequins and visually stunning, but… it also made our stomachs growl. After some thought, we immediately knew why: the dress’s criss-cross pattern reminds us of a waffle fresh out of the iron. I mean, that coloring was truly the perfect golden brown. Just add some syrup and you’re good to go.

4. Taylor Swift And Katy Perry

Food: A Burger And Fries

Following her stint as a burger at the 2019 Met Gala — which was themed “Camp” — Katy Perry reunited with Taylor Swift. The two have had “beef” (pun intended) for years, but recently made up and decided that the best way to prove their friendship was by dressing as a burger and fries. We love that Taylor specifically referred to them as a “happy meal.”

5. Pippa Middleton

Drink: Arizona Iced Tea

At the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, in May 2018, Pippa Middleton turned heads in a blue dress with pink flowers from British brand The Fold. Aside from the dress being an A+ floral, it also reminded onlookers of a certain iced tea. We’re referring to Arizona iced tea, which has the same coloring and flowers as the dress Middleton wore. But hey, at least it’s a cute can!

6. Kacey Musgraves

Food: A Cupcake

At the 2019 Oscars, country star Kacey Musgraves showed up and showed out looking like a pleasantly pink cupcake. Wearing Giambattista Valli Couture, Kacey wore a dress featuring tiers that reminded us of the frosting swirl on top of a cupcake. And the sweet, sparkling bow accent definitely acted as the cherry on top. We can’t help but drool when looking at that dress…

7. Sarah Hyland

Food: A Taco

This past Halloween, Sarah Hyland and then-boyfriend/now-fiancé Wes Adams picked a punny costume. With him dressed as Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Sarah dressed as a taco, the two collectively became “Taco Belle.” On her Instagram post showing off the clever costume, Sarah wrote, “The only thing better than Taco Bell… is Taco Belle.” These two were clearly meant to be together.

8. Taylor Swift

Food: Trix Yogurt

At the TIME 100 Gala, Taylor Swift wore a J. Mendel dress that featured the pink and yellow coloring of Trix’s strawberry-banana yogurt. Honestly, the moment we saw it, it brought us right back to our childhood, to days when the Trix rabbit was one of our favorite food mascots. We can hear it now: “Silly rabbit! Trix are for kids!”

9. Katy Perry

Food: A Fruit Bowl

Honestly, we could probably spend an entire day going over all of the times Katy Perry has dressed like food — so we’re just going to go with a few of our favorite examples. In this fruity dress by The Blonds, Katy performed her hit song “I Kissed A Girl” at the 2009 Grammys. The catchy song also scored her a Best Pop Vocal Performance nomination. And as for the dress itself, we give it all of the awards.

10. Gwen Stefani

Food: A Fried Egg

We love a straightforward, easy-as-pie food Halloween costume, which explains why we are falling head over heels for Gwen Stefani’s 2008 pick. Yes, folks, we’re talking about the time Gwen Stefani celebrated Halloween as a fried egg, one of everyone’s favorite breakfast foods. And all she had to do was throw on a fried egg frock to accomplish her goal — we truly admire the ease of this costume.

11. Rihanna

Food: A Cupcake

Like Kacey Musgraves, Rihanna once rocked a dress that reminded onlookers of a cupcake — but like, a really big, heavily frosted cupcake. The singer/designer/actor/queen wore this dress to the 2015 Grammys, and it was designed by powerhouse Giambattista Valli. Rihanna told Ryan Seacrest, according to Harper’s Bazaar, that the moment she saw the dress online, she knew she’d have to wear it.

12. Katy Perry

Food: A Hot Cheeto

Katy Perry does it again, successfully making Halloween 2014 one of the best ones yet. Complete with a Hot Cheetos purse and red-orange high-tops, Katy completely nailed the look. Plus, according to MTV, the singer has a special connection to the hot snack, since she ate them to recover after her breakup with comedian Russell Brand. Hot Cheetos as therapy, anyone?

13. Rihanna

Food: Pizza

At the 2015 Met Gala, Rihanna stunned in a yellow Guo Pei gown that trailed far behind her in a circular fashion. (Emphasis on the word circular.) Because of this, people couldn’t help but think that Rihanna’s train looked like a pizza pie, or an omelet, or yes, even Big Bird. Regardless, Rihanna in this dress is making us want to run out for a new wardrobe and a pepperoni slice.

14. Mariah Carey

Food: Cookies

In 2008, Mariah Carey attended a Halloween party dressed as a box of cookies. And that’s not all. By her side was husband Nick Cannon, who dressed up as a glass of milk. Together, they made the perfect milk and cookies couple. Aside from how cute this idea is, we love how easy Mariah’s look is to recreate. Get yourself a brown dress, brown boots, photos of cookies, and a box of cookies. You could even bring your own glass of milk.

15. Mindy Kaling

Food: Mustard

This past Halloween, in 2018, Mindy Kaling dressed as a bottle of mustard, which is just about the cutest thing we’ve ever heard. To top that, though, Mindy dressed daughter Katherine as a little lion, giving her followers a peek at the back of her mane. While mustard and lions might not go together in any other context, we think these two make a sweet mother-daughter pair.

16. Kanye

Drink: Sparkling Water

In the music video for his song “I Love It,” Kanye West dressed up as a bottle of Perrier sparkling water. By his side was rapper Lil Pump, who dressed as a bottle of Fiji water. The two even brought back these costumes for their musical performance during the September 2018 season premiere of Saturday Night Live. We have to believe that this costume idea came from the song’s lyric “When the first time they ask you if you want sparklin’ or still?” Otherwise, we have no idea.
